Chris Desa is a longtime resident of Savannah since 1992 and is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, singer/songwriter specializing primarily in six, nine and twelve string guitars with over five decades experience in music. He is a prolific songwriter, having written over forty original songs since 1969. His primary influences have been Jim Croce, James Taylor, CSN, Mark Knopfler and Leonard Cohen to name a few. Having started playing the piano at a very early age, by the time Chris completed high school he was able to play thirteen instruments. He is very well known and respected in music circles for his unique performance style as singer, multi-instrumentalist and twelve-string guitarist, performing with his beloved Ovation “Glen Campbell” Signature model.
He is a former merchant marine ship Captain, and a much sought after maritime expert residing in Savannah since 1992, operating his own independent Maritime Transportation, Safety and Quality Management Consultancy for nearly 24 years, He was President of SFMS since 2011 for 5 years and has served as a long time member/ board member, supporting enrichment of lives through music.
He blends well known tunes of the 60’s- 80’s with his own compositions and also includes those of many great singer/songwriters, who are not yet well known, with his versions of their tunes.
Chris has produced a NEW CD “The Best Days of My Life” (his 4th) after a lapse of 9 years in 2015.
