In 1994, Kyle had what he calls a giant Self-Realization. “I just instantly understood so clearly that my talent, along with my great passion and enthusiasm for music, were signs that I was supposed to follow.” From that point on, nothing else mattered but the music, and the miracles began almost instantly. The rest is history!
Having worked as a studio musician, record producer, music teacher, lead guitarist, back-up vocalist, mandolin player, solo performer, and of course his usual position, the front man,”Georgia” Kyle Shiver is at home in most any musical configuration. No matter the music or the venue, Kyle plays “as if we are all just sitting around on the front porch after a hard days work, because that’s where the roots music that I love came from.” Kyle has set up shop in many cities around the country, and performed with the likes of Shawn Mullins, John Mayer, Martin Sexton, Ellis Paul, Eric Taylor, Tony Arata, Jason Isbell, Kevin Kinney, Johnny Irion and Sarah Lee Guthrie, the Blind Boys Of Alabama, and Precious Bryant, to name a few.
“Georgia” Kyle Shiver was born in Albany Georgia, and has lived in Georgia for a majority of his life, though he did spend a few years up north.(where ironically enough, he got his nick-name “Georgia”) At an early age Kyle would request toy guitars, and at the age of 8, he took his first lesson, and the rest is history. Kyle did play football for a few years, and then worked in radio, and then in retail, but the music always called him. While living in Atlanta in the early 1990’s, he began his proffessional career, working a retail job during the day, and playing music at night, and over the years, he “just stopped going to the day job”. Kyle considers himself to be the most blessed guy in the world! He has played music everywhere this side of the Mississippi River, and opened shows and shared stages with some of the worlds biggest and most respected musicians. After moving to Savannah in 2002, Kyle began to play around town and soon stopped going on the road, because “there were so many gigs and musicians to play with right here in Savannah”. Kyle currently has an electric blues band, as well as a more traditional bluegrass band, and performs regularly in venues all around the Savannah area with his bands, and also as a solo act. You are always sure to hear Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marshall Tucker Band, Muddy Waters, Precious Bryant, and the Allman Brothers, as Kyle pays homage to the music he grew up with, intermingled with his own compositions. When not on stage, Kyle spends his time painting(he is a visual artist too), and playing with hs wife Heather, and daughter Lily, and dog Clarabelle. He also teaches private guiar lessons.
