Jackson Evans was born in northern Utah and began playing guitar at the age of twelve. He holds a BM from Utah State University where, as an undergraduate student, he was entrusted to teach beginning guitar courses and individual lessons. He has since maintained a private studio, conducted clinics at universities across the U.S. and is faculty at the Hilton Head Jazz Camp.
As a performer currently based in Savannah, Georgia, Jackson is an in-demand bandleader, composer, arranger and accompanist. Tours with his own group have included appearances at The Bar Next Door in New York City and two residencies at jazz clubs in Mainland China. He has traveled with artists such as Velvet Caravan and Colin Gilmore and is currently the guitarist for the Martin Lesch Band, which performs at the Jazz Corner in Hilton Head, South Carolina every Monday. Jackson has also performed with jazz luminaries Nicki Parrott, Kate Baker, Quentin Baxter, Kevin Bales and Howard Paul and has been endorsing Benedetto guitars since 2009. He has released three studio albums, two with his wife and frequent collaborator, Maggie Evans and one under his own name which was produced by and featured saxophonist Jody Espina.
Evans also performs regularly with the Jody Espina Trio.
