Guitarist James Lee Smith has twenty four years of playing experience. His influences are George Benson, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Earl Klugh, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, and Oz Noy. Smith is one of the most sought after guitarists for session and performance in the southeast. ~ Chris Mitchell

While a student of Chris Mitchell’s at Pladd Dot Music School where he later also became a guitar instructor, he gained his chops and formed his first band Savannah Avenue with bass player Mario Peterson in Statesboro Ga, backed by the best musicians the area had to offer. Tony Royster Jr, Ramon Gaskin, Quentin Perkins, Brad Richard, Ryan Kelley to name a few. He joined Jon Doe in his early 20’s and got an education on “The Funk”, performing with Rodney Smith, Dr. Nick Porter, Abu Majied, Chelsea Zan, and Dana Mobley.

He has performed with bands such as Main Street Trio,Savannah Avenue, Hunter Price, Graham Dechter, Thomas Claxton, the Permanent Tourist, the Big Band Trio, the Teaching, Craig Tanner, Whitley Deputy & The B-Town Project, Zach Deputy, Deas Guys, Emerald Empire Band, Mindy Smith, Dumpstafunk, and Your Mamas Big Fat Booty Band.

Smith continues to perform, write, and record original music with artist such as Sincerely Iris, Brandon Crocker, Eric Winbush, Gary Swindell, Jacob Evans, and Josh Johanson,among other celebrated and nominated artists. Smith’s sound consists of a unique blend of Jazz, Blues, Rock, Country, R&B, and Bluegrass.

Smith currently performs with the Band AMAR, Voodoo Soup, a Nickel Bag of Funk, Main Street Trio, Jacob Evans Group, and Stevie Smith.
