Pop, R&B, and soul singer-songwriter Jacob Evans is interviewed about his influences, favorite songs he’s written, favorite places to play, and much more.

What first got you into music?

Hard to say, but hearing music through headphones for the first time definitely did something different for me.

Who are some of your influences?

Richie Havens, John Legend, and System of a Down.

Do you have any personal favorite songs you’ve written, and why?

The one I did called “Just Breathe.” I always wanted to write a song that doesn’t rhyme and I wrote it as if I was talking to a friend.

What’s the best advice you’ve been given?

Make sure it’s real.

How did you get your start in the Savannah music scene?

Busking illegally on River Street across the from Tubby’s when one day the manager asked me to play there.

What was the craziest performance you ever had?

Hahaha … I plead the fifth.

Name a Savannah artist you’d love to collaborate with, and why?

Jawan Mathis. He is savannah music to me.

I’m Hard launching my first business, Sit In Sessions, June 11th

What are some of your favorite local places to play?

The Brice Hotel on Fridays from 6-9 pm, and New Realm Distillery on Saturdays from 12-3 pm.

Your thoughts on the Savannah music scene …

It’s definitely doing the thang, BUT, it’s bout to get noteworthy!
